Putin pledges no militarization of Russia's economy

MOSCOW, Dec 21 (PRIME) -- Russia will not militarize its economy, President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday in a speech before the Council of the Defense Ministry.

"We will not be engaged in militarization of the country and militarization of the economy,” Putin said.

“First of all because the development level we have reached, the economic structure do not demand this, we do not need this, making anything excessive hurting the country, hurting the people and the economy of the social sphere."

The official said that the military capacity will be improved gradually and sustainably.
